Award-winning filmmaker and social activist Alanis Obomsawin comes to John Abbott College for a screening of her latest documentary ‘We Can’t Make the Same Mistake Twice,’ on Thursday, April 13. Lawyer Sophie Marchildon — a full-time member of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal — will also be in attendance. The public screening will be followed by a Q&A.
The 2016 documentary is about a court challenge arguing that welfare services for First Nations children living on reserves and in the Yukon were underfunded.
The screening begins at 2 p.m. in P-204, on the second floor of the Penfield building. John Abbott College is located at 21275 Lakeshore Dr. in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue.
